HR professionals in the food and beverage processing sector attended the official launch of the curriculum materials and training associated with the AOFP, Workforce Development initiative, Destination Excellence. Food Processing Apprenticeship Program
New in 2007 the Apprenticeship Training Standard:  Food Processing Industry – Processor Operator – Food Manufacturing 246T

A Process Operator – Food Manufacturing operates, monitors, adjusts and maintains food and beverage manufacturing and processing systems and equipment by:

  • Demonstrating safe working practices and procedures
  • Employing job information resources
  • Using and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Transporting and storing process materials
  • Maintaining process equipment and components
  • Preparing raw materials and ingredients
  • Controlling process operations
  • Operating a central control room
  • Carrying out process control procedures

A Process Operator – Food Manufacturing is knowledgeable in:

  • Food Safety and Security
  • Safety Management
  • Mechanical Techniques and Tools
  • Electricity and Instrumentation
  • Maintenance
  • Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Environmental Safety
